Kappa Alpha Theta

Founded in 1870 at Asbury University (now known as Depauw University) in Greencastle, Indiana, Kappa Alpha Theta was the first women's fraternity to establish a chapter in Canada. Today, Kappa Alpha Theta has more than 120 chapters at colleges and universities across North America and more than 150 alumni chapters, including the University of Alberta Beta Chi chapter, founded in 1931. The Beta Chis are involved with ABC Headstart, an Edmonton-based comprehensive pre-school and family support program for families with low incomes. The program aims to prepare children for a successful educational experience in partnership with their family and community.
