Men’s Fraternities

Zeta Psi Fraternity

Men's fraternities abound on the University of Alberta campus and include Delta Chi Alberta, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Kappa Alpha, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Delta Theta, Pi Kappa Alpha, Phi Gamma Delta, Theta Chi, Kappa Sigma, Zeta Psi, and FarmHouse.

Likely the most notable frat house, however, is that belonging to former Premier Alexander Cameron Rutherford. Located on a 1.3-acre triangular parcel of land, the house was constructed in 1911. Shortly after Rutherford's death in 1940, the house and the three lots surrounding it were sold to the Alberta chapter of the Delta Upsilon fraternity who managed to engineer a $10,000 mortgage. Delta Upsilon took possession of the house in 1941 and sold the remaining three lots to help pay the mortgage.
