Delta Gamma

The Delta Gamma Women's Fraternity was founded at Christmas, 1873, at the Lewis School in Oxford, Mississippi. The Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Gamma was the first women's fraternity on the University of Alberta campus to be accepted by an international fraternity and was formally installed on May 9, 1931.

Active with the Red Cross during World War II, Beta Beta continues to support many local not-for-profit agencies such as the United Way, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and the Delta Gamma Foundation.

Between 2002 and 2006, Beta Beta Chapter received four consecutive Panhellenic Sisterhood Awards, awards given to a sorority that lives by its founders' ideals, exhibits strong sisterhood, and is supportive of other Greek groups on campus.

Beta Beta Chapter also has some notable alumnae including Susan Nattrass, a world champion in shooting and Olympic Gold medal winner in 1976, as well as the first two Canadian Chapter Development consultants.
