FarmHouse

First recognized as a fraternity in 1924, FarmHouse fraternity was founded as an agricultural club on April 15, 1905 by seven men from the University of Missouri. The impetus for the formation of such a club came from discussions at Sunday afternoon Bible meetings where D. Howard Doane, Henry Rusk, and Earl Rusk sought to promote fellowship among members of the College of Agriculture. Because the primary ideas were Doane's, he is considered the father of the fraternity.

Although part of the Greek system, FarmHouse has retained its non-Greek name out of respect for the importance the founders placed on its agricultural heritage. The founders realized that often in our society, the role of the farmer is looked down upon. For this reason, they placed great significance on a strong work ethic and Christian values, both important for rural living. To this day, FarmHouse fraternity maintains a strong tie to the agricultural heritage on which it was founded.

IFarmHouse became an international fraternity on April 20, 1974 with the installation of the FarmHouse chapter at the University of Alberta.
