Active in University governance and the Discipline Officer and Academic Coordinator for the Visiting Student Certificate Program, Dr Olive Yonge earned a BSc in Nursing, as well as an MEd and PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta.
In addition, she has obtained the designation of chartered Psychologist and maintains a practice in conflict resolution. Her nationally funded program of research is in the area of how students learn about their profession through practice in the field setting. She is currently working on an ethnography of an adolescent psychiatric program and is also keenly interested in the area of boundaries.
She has received numerous teaching awards within the Faculty of Nursing, as well as the Rutherford Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and 3M Teaching Fellowship. She has deferred the Vargo Teaching Award until she completes her term as Vice-Provost.
She has chaired the Working Group for the Integration of Teaching and Research, held Associate Deanships in the Faculties of Nursing and Graduate Studies and Research, and is currently the Vice-Provost of academic programs.
