Augustana Campus

Founders? Hall

Augustana Campus is located in the small city of Camrose, Alberta, 90 km southeast of Edmonton. In 1910, Norwegian settlers founded Camrose Lutheran College. Almost one hundred years later, the name has changed to Augustana Faculty but the importance placed on cooperation and service to others remains the same.

On July 1, 2004, Augustana University College merged with the University of Alberta. The new Augustana Faculty gave out its first University of Alberta degrees at the spring 2005 convocation. As of 2007, more than one thousand students are registered in the liberal arts focused undergraduate programs offered by Augustana Faculty.

Augustana Campus provides undergraduate students with a small-campus experience, while also giving them access to opportunities only available at one of Canada's leading universities. Students receive high-quality teaching in a friendly, caring, residence-based setting.

Augustana Faculty has the following departments:

Martin Luther

Students at Augustana can participate in a large number of extracurricular activities. The Vikings sports teams are very important at the campus. There are basketball, hockey, curling, cross-country skiing, and cross-country running teams. Augustana also offers the only university biathlon program in Canada.

Since 1910, there has always been at least one performing choir at Augustana. In 2007, three choirs are based at the Augustana Faculty. The Augustana Choir is a select mixed voice choir. The women's non-auditioned choir is called Sangkor, from the Norwegian word meaning "song-choir", and there is also a non-auditioned men's chorus.
