Mary Spencer
Mary Spencer is a professor emeritus in the Department of Agriculture, Food, and Nutritious Sciences. Her research is in the field of plant biochemistry and physiology, and she is an international expert on ethylene, a gaseous hydrocarbon that is both a plant hormone and an environmental pollutant. She has been a representative on both the International Council of Scientific Unions and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and has been active in promoting women’s roles in the international scientific community. Spencer was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2001.People
