External Awards
In addition to awards given by various bodies within the University of Alberta (e.g., the Senate, the Students' Union), volunteerism by faculty, staff, and students is recognized on a larger scale.
Corporate awards are presented by external entities in recognition of volunteer service to the greater Edmonton community. The Alberta Order of Excellence recognizes Albertans who have made outstanding provincial, national, and international impact and who have served fellow Albertans with singular excellence and great distinction. The Order of Canada recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society who have, throughout their lifetime, enriched the lives of others, demonstrated outstanding achievement and dedication to the community, and made a difference through their service to Canada and humanity at large.
Civic Engagement Award
The Civic Engagement Award, presented by the City of Edmonton, recognizes an individual who has made a significant and positive impact on community life in the City of Edmonton.
Media Relations Award
The Media Relations Award, presented by the Edmonton Journal, acknowledges someone who has exemplified a commitment to the University by sharing expertise via media relations activities.
Alberta Treasury Branches Involvement Award
Established by Alberta Treasury Branches, the Involvement Award recognizes students who maintain a high scholastic record while contributing volunteer time to the community.
Royal Bank Financial Group Involvement Award
Established by the Royal Bank Financial Group to acknowledge individuals who complement their educational experience with extracurricular involvement, the Royal Bank Financial Group Involvement Award recognizes a student who demonstrates a combination of volunteerism, leadership, and participation—both on campus and in the greater Edmonton community.
Royal Bank Student Faculty Association Involvement Award
Established by the Royal Bank Financial Group to acknowledge excellent service to students through involvement in a student faculty association at the University of Alberta, this award recognizes a student who is an executive member of a student faculty association at the University of Alberta, who has made an outstanding contribution to students she/he represents, and who demonstrates strong leadership skills.
